As the project began, a Assessment Expert Committee was formed, which included many prestigious Chinese dancers and educators such as Ci Ren Sangmu, Man Surong, Zhang Jiang, Yang Liping, Di Li Naer, Wang Xiaoyan, Tian Peipei, Jiang Tiehong. The material collected the knowledge and experience from numerous experts, and aimed to provide a “pleasant, high quality, and reasonable approach to dance education” It emphasized on expertise, fun, and diversity, so that student could enjoy learning, and at the same time strengthen their physique, establish higher self-esteem, and created a positive outlook on life.
The material was edited by dance experts from dozens of institutions, such as the Beijing Dance Academy, Minzu University of China, Art College of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, Tsinghua University, Capital Normal University, Beijing Normal University, Xinjiang Arts Institude, Yunnan Arts Institute. It also enlisted dance artists from various ethnic group, including the Hans, Tibetans, Mongols, Uyghurs, Koreans, as well as the more than 50 minority groups such as the Hmongs, Qiangs, Hanis, Daurs, Lisus. It has strong local and ethnic flavors, so while the children learn how to dance, they can also experience different cultures, customs, and characteristics, of various people groups and regions, and understanding the essence of China’s traditional arts.
